Holmeside School Academic Programmes

Our Curriculum

Holmeside School follows the British National Curriculum (BNC). The curriculum is organized into key stages and sets out programs of study and attainment targets in all subjects.

  • Arrangement of a visit to the school on a suitable agreed date

  • Tour of school and conducting an assessment to the child with members of the Assessment and Placement Team. Assessment takes between 2 – 5 days

  • Receipt of duly filled and signed Application Forms together with copies of previous school reports where applicable

  • Written Offer of an Admission issued with Acceptance Form

  • Receipt of signed acceptance form together with copies of birth certificate or passport and 4 passport size photographs

The BNC gives teachers the opportunity to be creative with lesson planning while students are encouraged to focus on areas/subjects they are good at, while receiving support on areas they find difficult. Students are formally assessed at the end of every key stage.

Admissions Overview 

Admissions Overview ; After receiving an enquiry for admission, the following procedure will be followed:

  • Arrangement of a visit to the school on a suitable agreed date

  • Tour of school and conducting an assessment to the child with members of the Assessment and Placement Team. Assessment takes between 2 – 5 days

  • Receipt of duly filled and signed Application Forms together with copies of previous school reports where applicable

  • Written Offer of an Admission issued with Acceptance Form

  • Receipt of signed acceptance form together with copies of birth certificate or passport and 4 passport size photographs

  • Issuing of Joining Instructions for pupils/students and school fees invoice

  • Opening of student file upon payment of school fees

  • Inclusion of student information on School Management System

  • Information to staff and boarding masters/mistresses where the child is a boarding pupil/student


NB. In cases where an interview/assessment has not been possible, the school requires a reference from the student’s previous school or assessment centre. This concludes Admissions Overview   

What We Offer!

Our Academic Programmes

We develop and foster necessary skills and social abilities to enable learners with disabilities to achieve optimum development according to age, ability and aptitude. The program is meant to help students in order to participate and meet learning objectives in an educational program.

Our ABA therapy programs help learners Increase language and communication skills, Improve attention, focus, social skills, memory, and academics Decrease problem behaviors. This therapy involves many techniques for understanding and changing behavior.

At Holmeside, we also do nutrition-based therapy for children showing strong symptoms of Autism & Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Certain substances from the food we eat may have adverse chemical reactions for autistic children and those with ADHD. Food and Nutrition. 
Gluten-Free/Casein-Free Diet
The Gluten Free/Casein Free Diet is the removal of all wheat protein (gluten), and milk protein (casein) from the diet. Many parents and physicians have found that implementing the GF/CF diet relieves many of the symptoms associated with autism spectrum disorders.

Speech and Language therapy is supervised by a qualified speech and language pathologist. Intervention is provided on one on one (1:1) basis and focus areas include; Speech (pronunciation, articulation, stuttering/stammering and voice disorders), Language (understanding and talking), Aural Rehabilitation (developing and fostering listening skills) sound awareness, literacy and reading.

Counseling Psychology; Psychology is the study of people’s thoughts, emotions and behavior. Psychology for children and teens involves diagnosis of developmental challenges and behaviors that are impairing the child’s life at home and school. The school endeavors to avail counseling services to the learners, both at individual and group level.

Occupational Therapy; A child’s occupations are centered on play and learning. Occupational therapists (O.T.) work with children with various conditions or impairment that affects their ability to perform the everyday activities of life such as writing, eating, participating in clubs, grip training among others. The O.T. work in partnership with the child, parents, care givers, teachers and health professionals. Holmeside School has a resident occupational therapist who works with the child on one on one basis.

We have qualified and approved instructors who helps to deliver specialist qualifications and accredited courses to improve skills, competency levels and confidence of our students/learners. In addition to providing specialist qualifications in the core areas of Retail, Hospitality and Business, we also provide leadership and work-ready training skills.
